The Learning Commons in our new CFIS building is a place for everyone. At any time during the school day students and classes can be found working independently or in groups. There are times the space is quiet, and times it is bustling with activity.
Our CFIS Library is housed on each floor of the Learning Commons with a vast collection of library books. The fiction is organized by genre on each floor - books are labelled clearly with genre stickers to aide students in finding exactly what they need. Non-fiction is also spread across all three floors and is organized by category and subject matter. Shelves are labelled with the topic for easy access. Our collection keeps growing with new, exciting titles added monthly, as well as the old familiar classics waiting for check-out.
All students have a Library Encore class once in their six day rotation. During that time, Mrs. Brackett teaches lessons that vary from book talks and read alouds, to research skills and writing activities. We even have fun bookmark making contests and special events such as book fairs and visits from the public librarian!
